MEC Lehari conducts door-to-door engagements.

NORTH West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, MEC Sello Lehari continues to engage Mahikeng residents on Pre-Presidential Imbizo activity as a build-up to the SONA Presidential Imbizo that is scheduled for the coming Saturday.

MEC Lehari started with a door-to-door visit at Unit 2 in Mmabatho were he listened to residents on issues of service delivery.

He explained to the residents on the objective of the his visit and engagement prior to the Presidential Imbizo.

Mr Sehularo, one of the elderly residents told the MEC that most of the households are occupied by elderly women and sacurity remains a challenge.

"There are serious security issues here given the bushes around and this place has now being turned into a drug nest," said Mr Sehularo who told the MEC about his dissatisfaction on the local municipality.

He said they have written several complaints to the municipality but they have never received acknowledgement on receipt of such complaints.

MEC Lehari said the Department will engage different Departments and stakeholders to conduct campaigns in the area and profile the households.

Ms Thokozile Kepadisa said they have handed over a memorandum to the municipality about water shortage and the condition of the water that is at times not clean. She further complained about the bad condition of roads.

MEC Lehari requested patience from residents and said government will intervene in time.
